What’s David Hiding? Spence Scrubs “Controversial” Policy Statement from Website

Jefferson City, Mo.— Since announcing his candidacy for Governor, David Spence has only released one statement to the public, but when that statement was posted to Spence’s official website and Facebook page, the only line containing references to his policy positions was mysteriously gone —positions Spence himself described as “controversial.”
Today, the Missouri Democratic Party asks Spence to explain why he scrubbed the statements and to clarify his controversial policy proposals.
“By David Spence’s own admission, his positions are controversial.  But instead of explaining what’s so controversial about his beliefs, so mainstream Missourians can make their own determinations, this guy would rather just say ‘oops’ and pretend he never said it.  Between David Spence’s refusal to explain why his bank won’t pay back its $42 million bailout and hiding his controversial beliefs from voters, Missourians are left with more questions than answers,” said Caitlin Legacki, Missouri Democratic Party spokeswoman.
In an email distributed Monday, Spence said, “My ideas to enact right-to-work, tort-reform and tax reform are going to be controversial but they are badly needed reforms which will make Missouri more competitive and put Missouri on the path to prosperity and job growth."

But when visitors to www.SpenceforGovernor.com click on Spence’s “Announcement” button, they are taken to a page that contains the very same email announcement, except the line above about Spence’s controversial policy positions.
The Missouri Democratic Party calls on Spence to explain why he deleted the section from his website and to come clean with voters about his controversial beliefs.
